Forest Hill is an established, affluent neighbourhood with a growing appeal to families. Located close to the downtown core, the area is also a bit of an inner-city oasis of grandeur. You're close to Forest Hill Village, which offers quieter shopping and dining options, while still being just five minutes away from the heart of the city.

Forest Hill Village – also known as The Village – is your one-stop-shop for everyday essentials. There’s The Kitchen Table for groceries, the LCBO, Track Fitness, The Forest Hill Barber Shop (which has been there since 1931) and much more. The Upper Village in Forest Hill North also has a variety of shops and restaurants on Eglinton Avenue, east of Allen Road to Bathurst.

The Village has many multi-cultural restaurants to choose from, including a few favourites like Edo Ko, Sushi Lovers, Mashu Mashu, and an ice cream shop called The Village Chill. If you’re looking to grab a coffee or a quick bite to eat, stop at What a Bagel or Aroma Espresso Bar.

Forest Hill is home to both Upper Canada College (a private boys’ school) and Bishop Strachan School (a private girls’ school), which are known for their academics, athletics, and the arts. Children can also attend Holy Rosary Catholic School, St Michael’s College, Leo Baeck Day School, or Robbins Hebrew Academy.

Public schools include West Preparatory Junior Public School, Forest Hill Junior and Senior Public School, Forest Hill Collegiate Institute, and Northern Secondary School.

Parks & Recreation

Cedarvale Ravine Park cuts through the bottom southwest corner of Forest Hill and is a great spot for running, cycling, and dog walking through a very natural setting. Suydam Park is a smaller option that features a children’s playground. The west end of the park leads into the Cedarvale Ravine. Forest Hill Road Park is a tree-filled park that features a children’s playground in a very natural setting and connects to the Kay Gardner Beltline Trail.

Just south of Forest Hill is Sir Winston Churchill Park, which is 8.6 hectares and features a large playground, an off-leash dog park, and 10 lit outdoor tennis courts. The park is also connected with the Nordheimer Ravine.

The area is served by the Allen Expressway, which creates a line of access from the heart of the neighbourhood to the major highways that surround the city of Toronto. There are also various TTC stations and bus routes, including St Clair West station, Eglinton West station, the St Clair streetcar line, and three TTC bus routes.

Forest Hill has historic homes and is also the site of spectacular new ‘neo-traditional’ homes built on a grand scale. The houses here tend to be stately with good setbacks and wide, well-manicured lots. There are also pockets of condo communities in the area.
